Many familiar sailing names have been RCC members: Claud Worth, Erskine Childers, Tilman, Miles and Beryl Smeeton, and that other remarkable couple Eric and Susan Hiscock, whose lifetime of voyaging inspired countless long distance sailors.

The Club’s prime objective remains the furtherance of cruising under sail and its membership, by invitation only and limited to four hundred, enjoys the same friendly intimacy as Underhill’s group of Victorian sailing eccentrics.

The Club organises a range of activities for all ages and abilities, from the teaching of beginners by the LSTA to hosting large national and world championship events. We also run regular racing for dinghies and keelboats. Our active cruising section (sail and power) organises cruises in company around the Clyde and the west of Scotland, and holds regular talks and skills workshops. Throughout the year, we hold quiz nights, talks with guest speakers, and themed evenings including dances and parties.

Our waterfront location gives us the best view in the marina, as can be seen from the LSC WebCam. Our Lookout Lounge has a well-stocked bar and good bar food at reasonable prices, making it a welcoming port of call for members and guests.

With yacht racing all year, and dinghy sailing and cruising from March to October and a busy social calendar we are probably the most successful club in the area. We also offer members experience and advice about training.

We have formed an alliance of Liverpool Yacht Club (LYC) and Tranmere Sailing Club (TSC) with a shared management scheme and joint membership. This means you get to be a member of both clubs.

LYC/TSC is a members club with an ever-open door. Everyone is welcome to join, regardless of experience, and at less than £2 per week it is not just a rich man’s sport. You don’t even need a boat. There is always at least one skipper willing to take out extra crew.

From April till October we sail on Wednesday afternoon and evening, Thursday evening – Ladies Who Launch, and Saturday afternoons for Recreational sailing and Training, and having fun and then on Sunday we hold three races starting at 12.30pm.

From November to February we sail on Sundays, three races starting at 12.00noon.

If you fancy a go at sailing just pop down anytime, or better still contact the club beforehand by E mail or phone. We have all the boats and safety equipment you will need. Just bring a change of sports clothes.

The club is accessed off the A58, Bolton Road, Bury, via Kitchener Street, which is opposite Haig Road and the Wellington Public House, at the end of Kitchener Street, turn right then first left over the narrow bridge and down the narrow lane on the right for 200metres. The club gates appear at the end of the lane. We are a very friendly Sailing Club and visitors are welcome to visit the club and have a look round at our facilities.

We have a comfortable clubhouse with a well stocked bar, fully equipped galley and large lounge with arguably the best available panoramic views of the Ribble estuary. The clubhouse also houses male and female changing and shower facilities, garaging for our safety boat and our race box with its fully automated race signalling system.

The RCC dinghy fleet is accommodated outside the clubhouse within three, sub-ground level, concrete pens which afford all year round protection from the wind and we have a mini tractor to take some of the leg work out of launching and recovering dinghies from the jetty which is adjacent to the clubhouse.

RCC’s cruising fleet of some 100 yachts is based at our ‘dock’ facility about a mile upriver from the clubhouse, enjoying both the best non-commercial yacht facilities available on this part of the coast and easy tidal access to the Irish Sea.

The club arranges a busy racing calendar for yachts and dinghies as well as a number of cruises to Piel Island, the Isle of Man etc for our yachting members. We also have a busy and varied social calendar with events ranging from formal dinners to quiz nights and barbeques – something to suit all tastes.

We are a friendly club with a wide ranging membership coming from as far afield as Yorkshire, Scotland and Cumbria, and are always looking to welcome new members to the pleasures of sailing on Kielder.

Kielder Yacht Club is not just about cruising the lake, we operate an extensive sailing calendar with enough activities to keep the whole family involved. We include everything from a gentle sail to the a secluded inlet, rafting up with friends, enjoying a good bottle of wine, to full blown regatta weekends. Of course no sailing calendar would be complete without a good old BBQ.

Our social calendar operates 12 months of the year and during the winter season we make the most of our club house facilities by hosting parties, hog roasts and winter walks.

The club is home to both motor cruisers and yachts where members can enjoy a full calendar of social and sailing events or simply get away get from it all on Europe’s largest manmade lake.

THYC run a very busy RYA recognised training centre which is open to the community. You can learn to sail at weekly sessions, take an RYA sailing or Powerboating course or book a group session for your school or club.​

We hold regular open days, taster sessions & training courses throughout the summer months & RYA Level 2 Powerboat Courses throughout the year. The open days are free , training courses are at very competitive rates & we can teach you to sail from as little as £5 per session – what are you waiting for?

Ullswater Yacht Club is located at the northern part of this seven-mile lake, and being only 10 minutes from the M6, is also one of the most accessible.

We have sailors aged from 7-70 (and beyond). They race and sail for pleasure, some for the competition, and others just like to sit and admire the view. We are a fun, friendly, family orientated club with disabled access that welcomes anyone with an interest in sailing. Safety is a priority and a fleet of patrol boats is available.

Our Sailing School provides training at all levels, and we have a range of training boats ready to take you on to the water. Our training school is run by Royal Yachting Association fully qualified Instructors who will make learning to sail fun and enjoyable.

Facing south and overlooking Torbay, the Clubhouse and its terraced garden provides a superb venue for its members and visitors alike. It is housed in a unique Victorian building accommodating a comfortable club bar, restaurant and function room. It is a great location for parties, meetings, training and events.

The ground floor offices and a committee room on are the focus of all the big sailing and other events that choose the RTYC to host their championships. The Club has several computer stations facilitating weather forecasts; race results and for all other hi-tech uses. Results are usually available even before crews come ashore.

There are large changing facilities and hot showers and the club offers a service to all event competitors in the safe keeping of car keys and other small valuables.

Year on year we strive to expand our facilities and although small, our clubhouse offers all the basic amenities required including:

We have club dinghies, windsurfers and canoes which are available for members use for very reasonable charges when a sailing officer is present.
